PRIVACY

What this site and the guild's Discord bot keep about you, who else touches it, and how to make it go away.

In effect since October 28, 2026

The Charter

IThe short version

  • We keep only what we need to run the guild: who you are on Discord, and your event sign-ups.
  • No ads, no analytics, no trackers. We never sell or share your data with anyone for marketing.
  • Unlinking Battle.net erases your Battle.net data. Deleting your account erases your site account and every event sign-up. Both are on your Account page and take effect immediately.

"We" means SideQuest's officers, who run this site for the guild.

IISigning in with Discord

Signing in asks Discord for two permissions: who you are, and your membership in the SideQuest server. From those we keep:

  • Your Discord ID, username, display name and avatar
  • Your nickname and roles in the SideQuest server, and whether you're still in it
  • When you last signed in

These update each time you sign in. We never see your email, password or messages, and we don't keep the token Discord hands us. It's used once during sign-in and then thrown away.

When a guild master confirms you're in the in-game guild, we also keep that and when it happened. It's what opens the member channels in Discord, and a guild master can remove it.

Guild masters can see a members' list on this site with your Discord roles, sign-in and link dates, your event sign-ups and comments, and any moderation records. When an officer creates, changes or deletes an event or addon, or changes the roster, we keep a record of which officer did it and when. If an officer deletes their account, those records keep only their display name.

IIILinking Battle.net

Linking is optional. It asks Battle.net only for your account ID and BattleTag, and we keep those two plus when you linked. Not your characters, email or real name, and no token is kept.

Unlinking erases all three right away.

IVEvent sign-ups

When you sign up for an event we keep your answer (going, maybe or can't), and when you give them, your character, class, role and note. On raid nights officers may also place you in a group or on the bench.

Event pages are public: anyone with the link can see who signed up (Discord display name and avatar) along with those details. Don't put anything in a note you wouldn't say in guild chat.

Each event also has a post in the Discord #events forum, where the bot notes when someone signs up, changes their answer, adds a comment or withdraws. It mentions them by their Discord account (without a notification) and repeats their sign-up comment there.

If you click Interested on an event in Discord, we keep your Discord ID against that event. The event page counts everyone who did, but only shows the names of people who have signed in on this site.

VCookies

  • sq_session keeps you signed in. It's encrypted, holds only your account number, can't be read by scripts, and lasts 30 days or until you sign out.
  • During a Discord or Battle.net sign-in, the same cookie briefly holds a one-time code that stops forged sign-ins.

No analytics or advertising cookies. If you never sign in, you get no cookies at all.

VIThe guild bot

Inside the SideQuest Discord, the guild's bot keeps:

  • Your chat XP and level
  • Moderation records (warnings, timeouts, kicks and bans, including the bot's own automatic ones), with the reason and which officer acted
  • A log channel only officers can read, where the bot copies edited and deleted messages, joins and leaves, and nickname and role changes
  • How many people are online and in each voice channel, as numbers only, never names

These belong to your Discord account in the server, not your site account, so deleting your site account doesn't remove them. Ask an officer to clear your XP. Moderation records are kept to keep the guild safe, and guild masters can read them, and correct a reason, on this site.

VIIWho else handles it

  • Discord and Blizzard (Battle.net) run the sign-ins, under their own privacy policies.
  • Cloudflare sits in front of the site, and Cabotage hosts it on Amazon Web Services in the US. Like any website, they see standard request details such as your IP address in order to deliver and protect it.

That's everyone. Nothing else is shared.

VIIIDeleting your data

  • Unlink Battle.net on your Account page: your Battle.net data is erased.
  • Delete my account on the same page: your site account and every event sign-up are erased and you're signed out. The bot takes away your linked roles within a minute.
  • Removing SideQuest from Authorized Apps in Discord only stops future sign-ins. It doesn't reach us, so use Delete my account to erase what we hold.

For anything else, including your bot XP, message an officer in the SideQuest Discord.

IXChanges

If what we keep changes, this page and its date change with it, and anything significant gets announced in the Discord first.
