What it does
SideQuest Companion sits in your system tray on Windows, macOS or Linux. No browser, no webview, just its own window. Open the app and choose Sign in with sidequest-guild.com; it opens your browser to check the code and authorize it. Any guild member can sign in.
Officers get auto-sync. The moment the addon writes a new raid record to SideQuest.lua on logout or /reload, Companion uploads it to this site within seconds and stages the site's reply back into the addon for your next login. No copy-pasting.
Every member gets addon update checks and installs, Companion's own self-update, and a reminder before raids they're signed up for.

Builds aren't code-signed (macOS is signed only ad-hoc), so the first launch needs one extra step. See First launch below. Check what you downloaded against Verify your download.
Verify your download
Every release asset is built by GitHub Actions from a signed tag and attested with build provenance. With the GitHub CLI installed:
gh attestation verify sidequest-companion-X.Y.Z-macos-universal.zip -R SideQuest-Guild/companion
To check a file matches what was published in that release:
gh release verify-asset vX.Y.Z sidequest-companion-X.Y.Z-macos-universal.zip -R SideQuest-Guild/companion
Or check it against the published checksums:
sha256sum --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS.txt
First launch
macOS: unzip, drag "SideQuest Companion.app" wherever you like, and open it. The app is signed with an ad-hoc signature (not a paid Apple Developer certificate), so the first launch is blocked by Gatekeeper. Either right-click the app and choose Open, or run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "SideQuest Companion.app" once, then launch it normally from then on.
Windows: unzip and run sidequest-companion.exe. SmartScreen will warn about an unrecognized app the first time; click More info, then Run anyway. This isn't a sign the file is unsafe. See Verify your download above to check it yourself.
Linux: untar anywhere, then run sidequest-companion. The tarball also has a .desktop file and an icon if you want it in your app launcher.
